Pre- requisites – Level 1 matwork course  

This course is designed for the Fitness professional who is looking to upskill on specific Pilates exercises and class designs for antenatal and postnatal clients. 

Course contents 

This course covers important considerations when exercising during pregnancy and in the early post natal period based on medical guidelines. 

The exercise repertoire is Matwork exercises and exercises with Swiss ball, Theratubes/ bands  and the Pilates ring that are suitable for pregnancy and then for post natal recovery. 

It contains over 70 Pilates inspired exercises suitable for pregnancy and a further 20 exercises to add for the post natal recovery period .

Assessment 

Physiotherapists and ESSA candidates will be assessed on the course by designing and delivering a group class to the rest of the group. 

AusActive candidates will be required to design and deliver the class above as well as 

• A post course revision quiz 
• Log some practice hours 
• Make a video of a suitable class for pregnancy clients with 2-3 plus participants
